History;
The historic use
of aromatic plant substances has been around since the Neolithic
period. Herbs and plants were used in cooking and medicine, as well as
buried with the dead. Deposits of medicinal plants have been found
inside graves dating back eighty thousand years ago. However the use of
pure essential oils has only been available since the creation of
distillation. It is thought that "smoking" or "smudging" was the
earliest type of aromatic treatment.

Egypt - 3000 B.C.
Five thousand
years ago the Egyptians used aromatic plant materials in all aspects of
their life, and began the healing arts of cleansing and healing baths,
massage, reflexology & cosmetology. Priest healers used aromatics
in religious ceremonies.
Egypt is proud to
produce the most effective and powerful herbs in the world. Health is
more than just the absence of disease. Therefore, Egyptian Medicine,
through the years, has recognized this with its unique capacity to
harmonize and enhance the capacity for enjoyment, fulfillment, and
happiness.

Ancient Egyptians
were highly skilled with herbs. The Papyrus Ebers, an ancient text
written in 1500BC, contains references to more than 700 herbal
remedies, including herbs such as aloe, caraway seeds, Marjoram Leaves,
Spearmint Leaves, Basil Leaves, Hibiscus, Calendula, Anise seeds,
Parsley Leaves, Cumin, Licorice Roots, Chamomile seeds, Dill , Garlic
and many others. Herbs are the plants that provide the highest quality
food to man, containing vitamins, minerals, and trace elements in
natural balance and harmony. They have been used in ancient Egypt in
many different ways and forms like in food, as a medicine, in cosmetics
and in fragrances. These herbs were used as a whole, leaves, stems,
roots or seeds or in special preparations.

Organic Herbs;
HHerbs have a
variety of uses including culinary, medicinal, or in some cases even
spiritual usage. The green, leafy part of the plant is often used, but
herbal medicine makes use of the roots, flowers, seeds, root bark,
inner bark (cambium), berries and sometimes the pericarp or other
portions. General usage differs between culinary herbs and medicinal
herbs. A medicinal herb may be a shrub or other woody plant, whereas a
culinary herb is a non-woody plant, typically using the leaves. Any of
the parts of the plant, as well as any edible fruits or vegetables,
might be considered "herbs" in medicinal or spiritual use.

Culinary use of
the term "herb" is much more specific & narrow. Culinary use
typically distinguishes between herbs, the leafy green parts of the
plant, and spices, all the other parts of the plant, including seeds,
berries, bark, root, fruit, and even occasionally leaves. Culinary
herbs are distinguished from vegetables in that they are used in small
amounts and provide flavor (similar to spices) rather than substance to
food./font>
